Personal

I started acting in the theater.  For nine years, I acted at the Flatrock Playhouse in North Carolina. My first show there was “A Christmas Carol,” and I played six different characters ranging from Tiny Tim to the Ghost of Christmas Future. It was a great group of people, a very professional group of actors who had been in the business for years, and they got me hooked. I didn’t know I wanted to act for a living though until I was sixteen.

In addition to acting, I love being outside, where you’re uninterrupted by cars or planes. My family is really into hiking and camping, and it was something I always did growing up. I became a Boy Scout and eventually an Eagle Scout, an organization that made a huge difference in my life. When you spend that much time working on something, it becomes a part of you. Being an Eagle Scout affects your outlook on your fellow man. It’s something I use every day.

If I wasn’t acting, I’d like to have gone to school for engineering. I took a few semesters of drafting at Blue Ridge Community College. I really like taking things apart and seeing how they work. For example, I love motorcycles, and have been riding for two and half years. I have had two so far and I am looking for the third. I’ve had a Yamaha and a Suzuki, so now I think I want to try another brand. I really like Italian café bikes, so maybe something like that.

Surfing is another passion. I’ve been doing it for five years now, having started during the summers in Wilmington, N.C. The waves aren’t as big as they are here, but Wilmington is still my favorite place to go. On the west coast, I like to go up past Ventura or down to Manhattan Beach. It depends on what I am in the mood for or wherever has the waves.

I’m not dating but I am looking around. I look for someone I can just hang out with, all the other stuff is just variables. As long as we get along and have something to talk about, there shouldn’t be a problem. If I went out on a date, I’d like to go surfing or maybe cook for her at my place. I’m a pretty good cook, believe it or not. I learned when I was young, and once I was out on my own, it became more of a necessity than anything else. My specialty? I like making Pan-Fried tilapia.
